Polman signs for Mayville

Congratulations to New York Mills High School Senior Cydnie Polman, who signed to play volleyball for Mayville State University.

Just a few days ago, Cydnie made the decision to play college ball for Mayville next fall. She was able to visit the North Dakota college earlier this year and participate in volleyball practice, which helped her decide.

"I liked the small school and how close everyone was. I liked the team and how welcoming they were with me when I went to visit and practice with the team, they were very supportive,” said Cydnie.

Cydnie, the daughter of Gloria and DJ Polman, has been playing volleyball since seventh grade. Back then though, Cydnie hoped to play basketball at the college level. As a sophomore, Cydnie went to state with the NYM Volleyball team and her love for the sport grew.

“I love the excitement when the team gets a point or when you win the point on a long rally,” said Cydnie, on why she prefers volleyball over basketball. “I loved how close our volleyball team was.”

“Thanks to all the people for helping me, like my teammates, coach and parents,” said Cydnie. “They pushed me along the way and helped me. My teammates are always supportive. Even this year with everything being taken away. I’m going to miss them and hopefully I will come back next year to watch games.”

Cydnie plans to enroll in the Allied Health program with the hope to pursue a career in Physical Therapy.
