A wise manonce said "It ain't no fun if it ain't no good." Being a part of the New York Mills Band program is about having fun while striving to obtain musical and personal goals. For the past 27 years, the Senior High band has maintained excellence at contests by receiving Superior ratings each year. It is always difficult, but well worth the struggle.

Each student begins their musical journey together in Kindergarten with Elementary Music. The seeds for musical excellence start there. Once they reach 5th grade they can choose to be a part of Band. Taking that next step is sometimes difficult. If band were easy it would not be nearly as fun and rewarding when you reach your goal.

After completing beginning band, 6th grade band and Jr. High Band, the student then is able to join "The" Sr. Band. Along with Sr. Band comes the extras as I like to put it. There are opportunities to show our school spirit in the pep band, cheering our teams on to victory. In the 9th grade you may audition to be a part of the Jazz Band. You can also be a part of the Summer Marching program.
