To sign your child(ren) up for most of the activities listed in the brochure, join us in the Sports Center Foyer on either Thursday, May 9th from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m or Thursday, May 16th from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. You will be able to talk with many of the people offering activities for your children. The New York Mills School Board has completed its Superintendent search and has extended a contract to New York Mills High School Principal Blaine Novak.

Pending the completion of the contract, Novak will succeed Todd Cameron who served as Superintendent in New York Mills for 10 years.

Novak has been with the New York Mills School District for 24 years.  In that time, he has served as a science teacher, a coach, Athletic Director, Community Education Director and, for the last 5 years, as High School Principal.

 The interview committee recently spoke with four candidates that the school board had selected after an initial review.  When finished with that process, Novak was unanimously chosen by the board to succeed Cameron.

In our effort to improve communication between parents and school,  New York Mills ISD 553 has implemented a telephone broadcast system that will enable school personnel to notify all households and parents by phone within minutes of an emergency or unplanned event that causes early dismissal, school cancellation or late start.  The service may also be used from time-to-time to communicate general announcements or reminders. This service is provided by SchoolReach, a company specializing in school-to-parent communications. New York Mills ISD 553 will continue to report school closings due to snow or weather on local radio stations and will use this system as an overlay to the public announcements.
